Experienced Technical Recruiter - Salient
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Recruiter who thrives in early-stage, high-growth environments and has a proven track record of sourcing and closing world-class machine learning, AI research, and software engineering talent. In this role, you’ll partner closely with founders, engineering leaders, and hiring managers to build Salient’s technical teams from the ground up.
You’ll be responsible for owning the full recruiting lifecycle across our most critical technical roles: from sourcing passive candidates in niche AI/ML communities, to designing structured interview processes, to closing high-priority hires in a competitive market.
Responsibilities
- Drive full-cycle recruiting for technical roles across ML research, applied AI and Software Engineering.
- Build and execute sourcing strategies to engage passive candidates in the Bay Area.
- Act as a thought partner to VP of People, founders and hiring managers on role scoping and candidate personas.
- Drive a high-touch candidate experience that reflects Salient’s values and culture.
- Build scalable recruiting processes (from outreach templates to scorecards) to ensure structured and effective hiring.
- Develop strong networks in the AI/ML research and engineering communities, especially in the SF Bay Area and help with organizing in office candidate recruiting events.
- Report on recruiting metrics and pipeline health, driving accountability to hiring goals.
Requirements
- 3 + years of technical recruiting experience, ideally with a prior fast growing early stage startup company
- Demonstrated success sourcing and closing machine learning researchers, applied scientists, and senior engineers.
- Strong familiarity with the SF Bay Area technical talent market, especially AI and infrastructure engineers.
- Proven ability to run multiple searches end-to-end in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup.
- Comfort working closely with founders and executives on high-priority searches.
- Creative sourcing expertise (Boolean, GitHub, niche AI communities, conferences, personal networks).
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Practical experience working with a variety of sourcing tools and technology including familiarity with using Ashby, Github, Juicebox.ai, LinkedIn Recruiter, GEM preferred or other progressive recruiting tools and ATS’s.
