What You’ll Do

As our Head of Legal, you will be responsible for leading and managing our corporate legal function. You’ll advise on strategic transactions, ensure compliance, and help shape governance; you’ll also be hands-on in many areas, partnering with leadership and operations to ensure legal risks are well-managed as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead corporate governance functions: maintain board/committee charters, stock‐plan administration, equity issuances, entity management (domestic & international).
• Oversee strategic transactions: fundraising, joint ventures, partnerships, debt financing.
• Handle securities matters and reporting, if/when applicable, especially as the company grows toward a potential public status.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, commercial agreements, licensing, IP arrangements, vendor, and service agreements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant state, federal (and where relevant, international) laws and regulations.
• Proactively identify legal risks, design policies, processes, and controls to mitigate them.
• Manage outside counsel and advisors; provide mentorship to any junior legal team members.
• Support cross-functional projects: product launches, data/privacy, employment law issues, regulatory filings.

What We’re Looking For

• JD from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in California or able to register in-house.
• 3-5 years of legal experience in corporate law.
• Prior involvement in high value or complex transactions.
• Strong judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill legal risk and counsel non-legal stakeholders effectively.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change; you’ll be expected to balance speed with legal soundness.
• Strong leadership capabilities: mentoring, managing external counsel, building out legal infrastructure.
