What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a hands-on Technical Operations specialist who thrives at the intersection of engineering and operations. Forage has had rapid growth over the last year and we are looking for someone who can help us transform from the start-up to scale-up phase of the company. You’ll help design and scale the tooling, processes, and systems that keep our EBT product reliable and efficient and ensure a smooth experience for the families that rely on Forage’s services.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys debugging complex issues, collaborating cross-functionally, and taking ownership of operational excellence. You will sit within the engineering org and, as our first hire in this function, you’ll have a key role in shaping how we operate at scale.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of work experience, in a technical or non-technical role

• Experience with Python; ability to debug, write small tools, or automate workflows

• Technical problem solving skills with an emphasis on building tooling and processes to reduce manual interventions

• Skills to dive deep into a technical area through reading code, reviewing logs or working with subject matter experts

• Ability to write SQL to debug issues, analyze patterns and build insights on next steps

• Experience with working cross functionally with both engineering and product manager as well as non-technical collaborators such as accounting or user support

• Strong communication skills especially when working with external partners

Nice to haves:

• Domain knowledge in payments operations, for example: reconciliation, refunds, chargebacks, etc.

• Knowledge of AWS, Django, Datadog, Sentry, git

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain internal tooling and automations to reduce manual workflows and improve operational efficiency

• Investigate technical issues by reading code, querying data, reviewing logs, and collaborating with engineering and product teams

• Analyze data using SQL to uncover patterns, diagnose bugs, and recommend process improvements

• Collaborate closely with non-technical stakeholders (e.g. accounting, support) to understand pain points and translate them into sustainable solutions

• Own the reliability and accuracy of core financial and operational processes, such as reconciliation or refund flows

• Partner with external vendors and partners, communicating technical details clearly and effectively

Your base salary would fall within the bands below. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of your offer is not included in these numbers and represents a significant part of your total compensation.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
